About Timothy Gilcrest, PA-C
Tim Gilcrest, PA-C, specializes in orthopedic medicine at Utica Park Clinic in Claremore. His professional area of interest includes sports medicine.
“When I first meet a patient, I like to try and find a relatable subject to help set up a rapport,” said Tim. “I also like to get the name of anyone who comes in with them. I will jot these in the chart so I can bring them up on the following appointments. It helps them relax knowing you take stock in them personally.”
Tim’s inspiration to pursue a career in health care started early. He said, “From a young age, I was fascinated with medicine and the human body. I took a class in high school, health occupations, which introduced me to many occupations in medicine. I joined the Navy after high school and became a hospital corpsman. I met many physician assistants during my time and found this was the profession I wanted to pursue.”
Choosing orthopedic medicine as his specialty was an easy choice for Tim. He said, while he was in the Navy, he was an ortho tech/cast tech. He would work in the cast room as well as first assist in minor procedures and surgeries. He added, “During my active-duty time, I was exposed to many specialties, but working in orthopedics was where my heart was.”
When Tim isn’t at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, riding his motorcycle and playing the drums as a stress reliever. “I am also a guest lecturer at the NSU (Northeastern State University) PA program,” he said.
