About Andrea Wall, APRN-CNP
Andrea Wall, DNP, APRN-CNP, specializes in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery. This specialty focuses on treating conditions in the pancreas, liver, bile duct and gallbladder.
Andrea’s decision to go into health care came to fruition after realizing she had a caregiver personality. “It’s what I do even when I am not trying and found out it was a natural fit,” she said.
After starting her career in the operating room (OR) at Houston Medical Center in 1990, Andrea realized that though she loved the idea of “removing and repairing,” she really wanted to know the outcome of her patients. She eventually changed direction and now cares for patients beyond the operating room. “Caring for the patient pre- and post-operatively made my job more complete,” she said.
Now that Andrea has more time with patients, she can spend more time helping them find ways to improve their health. “I have found that more often than not, patients want to learn and they usually have better outcomes because of it,” she said.
When giving advice to patients, she encourages following through on screening appointments. “Prevention plays an important part in longevity,” she said. “I have learned that patient education is vital in this area.”
Outside of working at the clinic, Andrea enjoys hunting, four-wheeling, quilting, gardening and just about anything in the outdoors.
