Robot-assisted surgery
Whenever possible, our surgeons use advanced technology like robot-assisted surgical treatments. Advanced robotic surgical procedures allow surgeons to use smaller, more precise tools that provide greater stability, flexibility, and control during surgery. Minimally invasive robotic surgery is a great option for many patients who need surgery. We use robotic techniques to provide treatments like hernia repairs, cancer surgery, gynecological surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.
One piece of technology our surgeons use is called the da Vinci system. This robotic surgical platform is designed to enable complex procedures of all types to be performed through 1-2 centimeter incisions. This system is used for various surgeries, including general surgery, urological surgery, and more. With the da Vinci system, your surgeon’s movements are replicated in real time. The da Vinci system cannot be programmed, nor can it make decisions on its own to move in any way or perform any type of surgical maneuver without the surgeon’s input.
Our surgeons provide the following treatments and services using robot-assisted techniques:
- Cancer surgery
- Colorectal procedures, including colon and rectum surgery
- General surgery procedures, including digestive tract surgery and hernia repairs
- Gynecological procedures
- Hepato-pancreato biliary procedures for the liver, pancreas, and biliary system
- Thoracic surgery (chest and lungs)
- Urological procedures for the prostate, kidney, and bladder
Minimally invasive surgery has many benefits, including shorter hospital stays, minimal scarring, reduced pain and blood loss, and fewer complications and site infections.

Urogynecologic surgery
Over 80,000 times per year, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with gynecologic cancer, and about 26,000 women will die this year as a result. Gynecologic oncology is a medical specialty that deals with the study and treatment of malignancies arising in the female reproductive tract. The ovaries, endometrium, cervix, vulva and vagina are where the most common and serious gynecological malignancies occur. Gynecologic oncologists are cancer specialists trained in the biology and pathology of gynecologic cancers and ensure continuous patient care as opposed to the disjointed care of several different specialists.
Urinary incontinence is uncontrollable leakage of urine from the bladder. Women experience urinary incontinence twice as often as men due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and the physical structure of the female urinary tract. The causes of urinary incontinence are treatable and frequently curable, but women need to see a physician for help.
We are pleased to offer the da Vinci robotic surgical system as an advanced option to help treat urogynecological problems and malignancies. With this minimally invasive surgical and robotic technology, surgeons operate through a few small incisions and view the patient through a magnified 3D high-definition vision system. The important thing to note is that the surgeon is in control of the da Vinci system, which allows for greater control and preciseness. Da Vinci is considered the number one minimally invasive choice for hysterectomy procedures in the US.
Our urogynecologic treatments include:
- Biofeedback
- Catheterizations
- Exercise
- Electrical stimulation
- Implants
- Medication
- Pessaries
- Timed maintenance
- Other advanced surgical procedures
Our urologists and gynecologists are trained in the latest incontinence treatments, which means you can rely on our team to provide exceptional urogynecologic surgical care no matter your needs.
