Our cardiac catheterization labs

We are proud to now offer cardiac catheterization at our cardiac catheterization labs at Hillcrest.

Cardiac catheterization is a minimally-invasive procedure where a catheter (a thin tube) is guided through an artery and up into a chamber or vessel of the heart. This procedure can be used for diagnostic purposes, such as to confirm the presence of heart disease, identify the cause of a symptom or assess a patient prior to heart surgery. It can also be used to provide interventional therapy, such as a balloon angioplasty or stent placement.

Comprehensive PE Center of Excellence

Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI) is one of three sites nationwide being recognized as the first Comprehensive Pulmonary Embolism (PE) Centers of Excellence by The PERT Consortium.

To receive this recognition, sites must be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, staffed by leading medical professionals and committed to high standards of care for pulmonary embolism patients.

OHI’s multi-specialty blood clot team utilizes a team-based approach to provide rapid, comprehensive, advanced care to patients with acute clot to the lung, leg or arm.

ELSO Award of excellence for life support

Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI) is proud to be the first program in the state to earn Gold Level ELSO Award of Excellence in life support!

The ELSO Award of Excellence recognizes extracorporeal life support programs around the world that distinguish themselves by having processes, procedures and systems in place to promote excellence and exceptional extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) care.
