Comprehensive maternity and childbirth care
Having a baby is an exciting event, and our labor and delivery team is committed to helping your experience be memorable and special. Our maternity hospital offers patients increased involvement in the planning of your child’s birth through our TeamBirth program. Participation in this program means we promote full communication and support between pregnant parents, their support person, physicians, nurses, doulas, and additional members of your healthcare team. Communications between involved parties are done through a planning board, which is updated routinely throughout your stay with us.
We offer the following services at our labor and delivery unit:
- Antepartum monitoring
- Breastfeeding support
- Full-service obstetrics/gynecology services
- Labor, delivery, and postpartum care
- Newborn care
- Parenting classes and educational resources
We also have an on-site newborn nursery where we promote bonding practices after birth, such as skin-to-skin contact, golden hour bonding, delayed bathing, delayed cord clamping, and couplet care.
Our special phone line is available 24/7 for questions and parental support. To speak to a specialist, or to schedule a guided tour, please call 918-342-6762.
TeamBirth
At Hillcrest Claremore, we are proud to participate in the TeamBirth program. TeamBirth is a way to increase communication between you and your support person, physician, nurse, doula and any additional members of the health care team. The goal of the project is to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes through communication and a team-centered approach.
TeamBirth allows our laboring patients to speak and be heard with the simplicity of consistent communication, incorporating the use of a planning white board and dry erase marker that is updated with every change during labor.
Funded by George Kaiser Family Foundation as part of the Tulsa Birth Equity Initiative, TeamBirth is the centerpiece of the Delivery Decisions Initiative of Ariadne Labs, a joint center for health systems innovation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The Delivery Decisions Initiative at Ariadne Labs partners with hospitals and communities to enhance trust in childbirth through systems of communication and teamwork.
Your team
You are the most important part of the team. Discussions and decision-making are centered around you. However, your team will also include your chosen support person, your nurses, and physicians. Your team may grow to include more specialists throughout your labor.
Your team will communicate about your labor and delivery using a planning board. The planning board is updated routinely during team discussions so important information can be made visible to all team members. Information may include names of all team members, your labor and delivery preferences, your plan of care, labor timeline, and next check-in.
Lactation consultations
One of the many decisions made during pregnancy is how you will feed your baby. Breastfeeding offers optimum nutrition and numerous other health benefits for both the baby and nursing parent, but it may require practice. At our lactation center, we offer assistance in making breastfeeding a smooth experience for both the nursing parent and supportive partner.
Appointments are available on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 918-342-6762 or 918-343-6914 to schedule or for more information. A fee may be required for services, please check with your insurance coverage.
