Kendra Hurst, PA-C, has practiced pain management in Oklahoma since 2005. She was initially exposed to health care through family members who work in the field. She was able to see the impact they made on others and she wanted to do the same. “I got into the medical field because it allowed me to care for people, while also helping to show them compassion in times of illness and pain,” she says.
When working with pain management patients, Ms. Hurst focuses on helping them to be as operative as possible. “I want people to be as active and functional as they can,” she says. “I help manage people’s pain through interventional treatments (injections, etc.), physical therapy and medications, so they can live full and meaningful lives.”
When teaching patients how to stay healthy, she encourages as much activity that can be tolerated. “Exercise will help you feel much better overall,” she says. “It will help in regards to your pain and also your mental outlook.”
Ms. Hurst received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oral Roberts University in 2002. She earned Master of Health Sciences degree as physician associate at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in 2004.
