Jules Merenda, D.O., is board certified in family medicine and has practiced since 2000. Patient comments about her include:
"She is a life saver! Very personable and easy to talk to. She wants to fix a problem, not just the symptoms! My father had been seeing a different doctor for six months regarding abdominal pain. The doctor continually said there was nothing wrong with him. Within 15 minutes of his first appointment with Dr. Merenda, it was diagnosed to be his gallbladder which was removed the following week. 15 minutes of Dr. Merenda listening to his symptoms yielded more results than six months with his previous doctor."
"Dr. Merenda saved my mother's life. We travel over an hour to see her. She is a ten in our books!"
"Dr. Merenda is the friendliest and most understanding doctor I have ever been to. She helped me find the root cause of my issues and takes time to listen and empathize. She is funny, intelligent and caring."
"Dr. Merenda is the best doctor I have ever had. She is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. She takes the time to listen and discuss the options. I am feeling better every day. You could not find a better doctor anywhere."
“I believe in a judgment-free zone,” Dr. Merenda says. “I encourage honesty and full disclosure. I want to help you with your health concerns and do not want you to leave my office with any unanswered questions."
Dr. Merenda is committed to explaining your tests, lab results, medications and options to you. “When patients understand these elements of their care, they are more likely to participate in their own treatment plan,” she explains. “This promotes faster healing and more effective health maintenance.”
Dr. Merenda chose to practice family medicine “because it is the most personal kind of health care,” she says. “If you are jumping from specialist to specialist without a ‘home base’, it is like trying to synchronize an orchestra without a conductor.”
Dr. Merenda earned a medical degree at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa in 1997. She completed an internship and residency at Riverside Health System in Wichita, Kansas in 1998 and 2000, respectively. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Practitioners and the American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine.
Dr. Merenda’s personal interests include reading and writing – mostly poetry. She likes to make time for exercise and reflection. She enjoys time with her family, including six kids, from Sunday night dinners, board games and watching "The Walking Dead" together to snow skiing, snowboarding and rock climbing.
Dr. Merenda speaks some medical Spanish. She welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans. Her office is located on the Hillcrest Hospital South campus at:
