Chrissi Martin, APRN-CNP

Chrissi Martin, APRN-CNP, practices family medicine and has been a health care professional since 1995. She applies the Golden Rule to all aspects of her life, including her interactions with patients. “I treat my patients the way I’d like myself or my family to be treated,” she explains. “My goal is to make sure that each patient receives the best possible care that I can provide. It is important to listen and treat the whole person not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.” Patient comments about her include:

Prior to joining Utica Park Clinic, she cared for patients at St. John Medical Center and was a nursing instructor at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology for seven years. “I love all aspects of health care and I particularly enjoy working with the geriatric population,” she says. “Geriatric patients are full of life experiences and I enjoy listening to their perspectives on health care. They are often grounded on common sense and experience and we can all learn from that wisdom.”

Chrissi chose to practice family medicine because she enjoys caring for a wide variety of people. “I incorporate health practices into each patient’s cultural and spiritual beliefs,” she explains. “Change is hard for any of us but small changes can lead to big rewards. By incorporating health practices into a patient’s belief system and values, they can be more successful in adopting a healthy lifestyle.”

“I could never see myself doing anything but caring for patients,” she continues. “As a child, I helped care for my elderly grandparents and loved doing that. I’ve been providing care for others ever since.”

Chrissi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 2009. She completed a Master of Science degree in nursing education at Southern Nazarene University in 2013. She obtained a post-masters certification as a family nurse practitioner at Maryville University in 2018. She is a member of the Association of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioners.
