Turning adversity into hope.

An incidental touch while dressing was Shannon’s first indication that something wasn’t right. A visit to the doctor diagnosed her with invasive ductal breast cancer. The oncology team at Hillcrest Medical Center offered straightforward information – and hope. A bi-lateral mastectomy and an intense year of chemotherapy eliminated the cancer, but not Shannon’s enthusiasm for life. She now shares the importance of early detection with everyone she meets, making the most of every opportunity to turn a negative into a positive.
