Kristen Battles, D.O., has been a physician since 2007. She currently practices wound care at Hillcrest Hospital Pryor. Patient comments about her include:      "I feel like time wasn’t an issue and I felt like her only patient. She gave me the help I needed when I needed it most!" Dr. Battles explains how she chose to get into health care: “My dad is a family medicine physician and has been with Utica Park Clinic for more than 20 years. He and other family members who are physicians have been a positive influence on me and what I wanted to do with my life.” Dr. Battles has a unique interest in wound care. “It’s nearly impossible to heal a wound without a good primary care basis because treatment begins with the underlying problem(s) that caused the wound in the first place," she says. "This is particularly true with diabetic patients. I’m a big believer in preventative care and having patients take an active role in their health. When they do, better outcomes are often achieved.” Prior to joining Utica Park Clinic, Dr. Battles cared for patients at W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah and the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant. She served as the medical director for Sparks Regional Medical Center Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Dr. Battles earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences at Southwest Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 2002. She completed her masters degree in natural and applied sciences at Oklahoma State University in 2003. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2007 from the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa. She completed her internship at Hillsdale Community Health Center in Hillsdale, Michigan, in 2008 and completed her residency in family medicine at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, Oklahoma in 2010. Dr. Battles is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association. Dr. Battles’ personal interests include spending time with her family at the lake and traveling. Dr. Battles welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
