Surgical Nursing

The Medical/Surgical units at Hillcrest Medical Center (HMC) are designed to provide the best possible treatment and care for a wide variety of illnesses and injuries. Each unit specializes in a focused area of medical/surgical nursing care. Patient care delivery is provided through a team approach utilizing a wide variety of disciplines.

• A Case Manager and Social Worker work closely with the nursing staff on each unit to provide comprehensive care to each patient.
• Clinical Nurse Specialist, Clinical Nurse Leaders, and Education Specialists work side by side with the nursing staff to ensure the best possible clinical outcomes for our patients.
• Nursing support services such as the Vascular Access Team and the Enterostomal Therapy Team are available for specialized treatment of patients

5 TOWER

5 Tower is a 38 bed Medical/Surgical unit that provides specialized treatment for patients admitted with a diagnosis related to Nephrology. The staff on 5 Tower provides expertise and dedication to patients for treatments consistent with:

• Peritoneal Dialysis
• Hemodialysis
• Neurology
• General Surgery patients
• General Medical patients

6 TOWER

6 Tower is a 32 bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit that works exclusively with the Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI) and Hopitalists. OHI is the premiere Cardiology Group in Oklahoma. The proficient and renowned care provided on this unit will include patients encountering:

• Stable Cardiac Events
• Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac procedures
• Post-Operative Open Heart Surgery
• Implantation and Reprogramming of pacemakers/internal defibrillators
• Anti-Arrhythmic Therapy
• Cardiac Rehab
• Congestive Heart Failure

7 TOWER

7 Tower is a 39 bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with a diverse patient population across the life continuum. It offers a friendly, skillful, and supportive atmosphere whereby nursing staff will learn about and care for patients admitted with:

• Stable Cardiac Events
• Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac procedures
• Thoracic/Vascular Surgeries (i.e. thoracotomy, AAA, Carotid, Endarerectomy, Fempop Bypass)
• Stable Ventilator patients
• Chronic and Acute Respiratory disorders
• Tracheostomy patients

10 TOWER

10 Tower is 45 bed Medical/Surgical unit that provides care for a wide variety of patients of all ages. The innovative and energetic staff on 10 Tower provides care for both inpatients and outpatients. The patient population on 10 Tower consists of:

• Stable Cardiac patients
• Diagnostic and post Procedural recovery
• Out patient recovery and same day discharge
• 24 hour observations
• Short stay surgical services

SPINE & ORTHO UNIT / 4 SOUTH

The Spine & Ortho / 4 South unit is a newly remodeled with 30 private suites. This unit works closely with The Orthopedic Center, Oklahoma Neurosurgery Associates, and Oklahoma Brain and Spine Institute. This unit also works closely with physical and occupational therapy and is fully equipped for group therapy. The types of patients that are cared for on this unit include:

• Brain surgeries
• Spine surgeries
• Orthopedic surgeries
