Residency Program

The Critical Care areas of HMC consist of Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and Burn Intensive Care Unit.

The Critical Care Nurse Residency program is conducted twice a year beginning in January and June for new graduates of an accredited Registered Nursing Program. It consists of 16 hours of classroom time and approximately 24 hours of patient care orientation in the units per week. Weekly modules include Pulmonary, Cardiovascular, Mechanical Ventilation, Renal/Multi-system, Neurological and Pain/End of life issues. In addition to the classes that are taught at the hospital, classes in Basic Arrhythmia, 12-Lead ECG, and Hemodynamics are conducted at the Hillcrest Education Center..
